Pre Genetic Diagnosis and Screening

PGD allows the embryologist to choose the best embryos for transfer to the uterus based on the results of a detailed genetic test on the embryos, excluding those embryos that contain an obvious genetic abnormality.

The removed cells can be analysed using the FISH (Fluorescent In Situ Hybridisation) technique to count the number of chromosomes and observe their arrangement.
